WPI stands at 243.3 points
The official wholesale Price Index for “All Commodities” for the week ended 19th September 2009 rose by 0.29 per cent to 243.3 (provisional) from 242.6 (Provisional) for the previous week.
The annual rate of inflation, calculated on point to point basis, stood at 0.83 per cent for the week ended 19th September, 2009 over 20 September, 2008.
The textile commodities which saw an increment in their prices are cotton textile, Jute and other textiles by 5.42 per cent and 22.36 per cent over the corresponding week of previous year.
Manmade textile prices saw a significant decline of 4.86 per cent over the week ended 20/09/2008, though the previous week it saw an increase of 5.69 per cent. Moreover, the remaining textile commodities, Woolen textiles, other miscellaneous textiles and cotton knitted garments remained same as they were on last week.
