This section tracks the textile and apparel components of Whole Sale Price Index of that Week, as released by Economic Advisor’s Office, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. The index of various T&C components is being tracked to understand their price movements, as also their contribution to overall price scenario in the economy. The Index is based on 1993-94 prices.

The main groups being tracked under the T&C basket are textile categories of cotton, man made fiber, woolen, jute and hemp and other textiles comprising yarn and fabric of that fiber group. Besides this, knitted garments man made textiles.

Prices of all textile Groups have witnessed a decline in August compared to the beginning of this year. The maximum decline has been registered in the case of Jute textiles. Prices of cotton knitted garments were the most stable among these groups.
