 USA’s imports of RMG
- During the period Jan - April 2008, the RMG imports for USA declined as compared to Jan – April 2007 by 3.72%
- Though China still enjoys the no. 1 exporter position of RMG to USA , its value of imports for Jan – April 2008 to USA declined by 7.24%
- India slipped to 5th rank as compared to its 4th rank for the same time period in the previous year. However, India’s total RMG exports to USA witnessed a marginal growth at a rate of 1.59%.
- Vietnam grew remarkably at a rate of 28.04% and jumped from 5th position to 2nd top RMG supplier to USA.
- Philippines, Jordan, Mexico showed maximum decline of 14.85%, 10.08% and 9.88% respectively out of top 19 supplier countries.
- Indonesia grew meagerly at a rate of 0.29% in Jan- April 2008 as compared to previous year but retained its 3rd rank position.
- Bangladesh is steadily catching up and currently its exports are worth US$ 1068 Million (Jan- April 2008)
